The sand along the Spanish Mediterranean coast is always threatening to take over; it’s in the air, on the ground, in the cupboards… One way of batteling this is to plant trees. Some areas have used this method quite successfully, my particular neighbourhood has not… The trees here are small and twisted due to the wind and even when they’ve managed to hold their ground all through summer, the autumn storms will wash away the ground, leaving them like hunched skeletons with their roots exposed.
But there are good news! The Spanish government has promised to plant 45 million trees over the next three years in an effort to repair some of the damages done by man.
Perhaps all of Man is not all bad. 😉
