Water Works 5, Mar del Plata oil painting

It’s been over a decade since I was last in Buenos Aires. That and the overbearing heat has wiped most of my memories from that trip. The short respite came when we went to the coast for a few days – the seabreeze really helped in raising one’s spirits.

Now, I like nature and all that stuff, I’m a genuine treehugger but… when it comes to what actually interests me, it’s quite the opposite: industry. Of any kind – from woodworking to transport tanks to building sites. Funnily enough I don’t seem to paint a lot on that theme, perhaps it’s something to think about. This painting is of the Mar del Plata harbour. There’s a sea lion colony right next to it; everybody says sea lions stink but I think the wind must’ve blown the right way that day.
